And then they never saw the pirates again.
Sorry this comic is so late. Me and Victor have been dealing with stressful adult-life stuff. To make up for it, go look at the fanart page! There’s new things!!

That wave was SUPER convenient.
Skärva, you’re not going to at least get a sandwich? What if you need to use magic to drive on sand or something?
How did he get the car all the way over here with its metal wheels on sand anyway.
A complete waste of power, I know, but could Derk use light magic to burn away the fog?
I can’t tell by the fonts, other than it wasn’t Lorelei, who yawned?
Chop chop everyone, there are five more keys to find before the arc is over, and these pirates have had enough screen time! (for now)
They have SUCH a good track record of obtaining sandwiches
It probably has a long-term enchantment on it. It doesn’t RUN on magic (unlike the wagons he sent out) but that doesn’t mean it can’t be souped up a bit
He could, at least in their vicinity, yeah. It would come back though, so he’d need to create a perpetually-burning “bubble” of visibility.
Skarvs, silly! Who else? Also his font is easy to pick out. Check out the curviness of the letters, and the fact that it’s always capitalized (not that it matters in the context of that panel… although I suppose that otherwise it would come across as a very aggressive yawn). It’s called “Mail Ray Stuff” and every now and then I catch it out in the wild, and I’m like whoa.
Well, technically finding all the keys is a whole PART. Or Act, if you will. The whole story is going to be four (estimated??? subject to change) Parts of various lengths. (You can see how it’s divided on the Archive page.) Each key will more or less constitute a chapter on its own, although it will get tricky as we interweave the main group’s action with that of other characters (as in: we’ll try to pace the next chapter better so that we don’t go 8 months without the minions again).
Am I right in reading the yawn as coming from Skärva, continuing to show his genre savvyness by knowing the big wave will just set them back at port?
Yep! Although I didn’t intend it as extreme genre savviness, I do like that. I had just thought he’s been through and seen enough crap that he’s slower to freak out than most people.
Ah. I just took as an extension of his expectation when he pushed the button.
Skarva looks so done
He was done like a hundred pages ago.
I like the segue in the background from the map to a hill. Suddenly no more pirates, I’ll miss ’em.
