Courtney:
Colors will be up soon! Also I GOT A JOB!! I’ll be starting in a couple weeks; it may be a little bit of a hard time for the comic while I adjust (not to mention my first work week is the final week for the play I’m in) but I’ll try my best!
Still really like casually-dressed princesses.
Yay! Me too!
Human Skarvs makes me uneasy…but Derk has awesome shades. Also, great job on the castle!!
Poor Cammy. Her life is honestly never fun.
(congrats on the job again. i’m so happy for you.)
That’s probably the curse’s fault.
Having to clear up those spontaneous tumbleweed infestations and everything!
Yeah, even with all his power, that’s the most “normal human” he can make himself look! (And he can’t hold it for very long either.)
That explains it all! I was wondering why Skarva doesn’t simply turn himself in a human-like creature (he looks lke being undead, so creeepy, but I LOVE IT!!!).
Congrats for the new job, yay!
I’m somewhat confused by the up arrows?
Wow, I hope that tower has an elevator in there. I’d very much not like taking a cart up that far, even if it’s a ramp instead of stairs.
The castle’s outside the city walls? Good thing it’s sealed by royal magic, otherwise ANYONE could just summon a tornado and fly up onto there without any guards being the wiser.
Hey! That one guard doesn’t have her feathers on the right side of her helmet? Is the Royal Guard not as incredibly strict about dress code as OOC uniform wearers, or did I miss a whole gender-based feather tell?
That is an elevator they’re on, hence the arrows. I hope the coloring will make that more clear!
It’s a rank thing, with less experienced recruits having the feathers on their right.
Humanized!Skärva is scary.
Dealwithit!Derk looks awesome.
That last panel looks awfully weird. Is that blue castle just floating there next to her castle?
It is floating on the outskirts of Crownskeep, yes. Is there anything I could do to make that more clear?
Poor Skarvs. This is the best he can do against the curse. Everyone thinks he looks freaky…
We still love ‘im! …even if he’s freaky.
Maybe it could be improved my changing the scene so that the ‘camera’ is In Crownskeep, and you see the city floating near by. (That would mean doing the whole panel over again, and being a comic artist myself when ever that is the only option,I see way “oh well!” (But then again you are publishing this, so you might want to consider it.))
It feels like it came out of no where, considering I have never seen it before. Like it had appeared only just now.
Congrats on the job!
Is Derk wearing sunglasses? And is that what Skarva would look like if he were born human? It’s kind of how I always imagined Artemis Fowl, but a bit more grungy.
Yes to the first question! To the second… Not really, that’s just him constructing a magical disguise. But he can’t fight off the curse too much, hence why he still looks pretty weird. Can’t get rid of the black eye either (although that’s an unrelated affliction).
Derk reminds me of something, but I can’t remember what…
That tumbleweed has a tail!
I’m sure the stock keeper will figure out a way to deal with having no supplies, and if the only way is getting more, then they;ll have twice as much when Skarva sends the stuff back…
Y’know, I’d read a comic of nothing but Svarvs and the princess adventuring.
I’d love to make one! You’ll get to see a lot more of her in action in the future. I’m glad we’re getting to explore it in this prequel. :3
Since this is a prequel it makes me curious what’s going to happen with the princess and her outfit to return her to her usual duds before it gets to the…. I’m going to guess first scheme of the comic is what this part is leading up to.
Well, we don’t see the princess in the very first scheme. And I would imagine what happens is her parents reprimand her once they find out about the casual clothes she’d been hiding in her closet and command- er, encourage her to dress like a princess again.
Man that human Skarva face is enough to make any child cry. Maybe that’s why Derk is wearing glasses.
Not to be offensive or anything, but a small critique that I have to give is that the guards are wearing the swords on their backs. For a touch a realism they should be wearing them at their sides. But then again it does look kinda cooler with the way they are and it just a small side detail.
Check this guy out if you want to understand what I mean.

Hey, I’m not offended by critique! Thanks for pointing that out; I think I was subconsciously channeling Link and how he keeps a sword on his back. I didn’t really think about how inconvenient it would be if you’re not actually some sword-handling genius. Since I’ve already drawn the guards like this every time they’ve appeared throughout the story, I don’t think I’ll change it, but it’s something I’ll keep in mind for future designs.
Come to think of it, have the guard actually done anything to require the use of the swords?
Yeah, they don’t need to use them that much. But just in case…! I think they’re to be intimidating more than actually used, honestly. Which might add some justification to why they’re on they’re on the back.
I am calling a shot. Skarva totally messed up the plan by summoning those supplies.
“Oh, did I summon the supplies from the time bomb room? Crap.”
