SPOILER ALERT: The Sage’s name is Lomurcio
on August 5, 2011 at 12:01 amAbscondWithAPie:
Derk looks kinda like a zombie in that first panel. Not sure what’s going on with him.
Also, do you like the sage’s font? Because we do, so it’s staying.
Altermentality:
I’m quite happy with how this one turned out. I have a new way of doing backgrounds, and also I think the second panel looks pretty cool. Victor thinks I went a little overboard with Skärva’s embarrassment, but I think it’s cute how his ears get red too. Just wait until the next comic…
We also have another sketch for you! Yay!
so its clear that the mage is too strong for him—-vastly
You’re late, buddy. I thought you died or something.
He has, at least, the power of wisdom, something that Skärva… has yet to amass.
lol skarvas 4th bloodlusted face if im correct
and i was watching a movie cuz im usually always on time :))
Oh boy, do I recognize that font! Nostalgia kicking in! Is it bad that as I read it, I hear in my head the sage’s voice preceded by the font’s sound effect?
Haha, that’s an effect we surely would have added if this comic could cross over into the acoustic realm. But right now I’m still struggling to decide exactly what they all sound like…
oh the nostalgia, this is the freaking coolest thing ever, snowman or thing can top this in epicness….cept me of course…..
Oh King Frost, you so crazy!
SkarvaXWise Man OTP
Oh my god. I’m going to go break open my skull and pour some bleach on my brain now. Thank you.
What effect did you use in the third panel? I’m trying to find new ways of doing effect in backgrounds besides drawing in all the little lines because I’m lazy.
And I like that his ears turn a bit red, too.
It’s a Photoshop filter called “angled strokes”. It’s pretty much my go-to effect for this comic. Here, as in other panels from time to time, I used it on a bunch of stripes I had made using a brush with an interesting texture. I like it because it makes everything smooth and painterly and inobtrusive; it has texture to it without popping out at you and distracting you from the foreground. I use it for the snow on the mountains too. Abusing Photoshop filters can be tacky, but I find they are very useful when used in moderation. It’s fun to experiment.
Poor guy.
It’s always about the face.
So it goes, in life. People are always judging you from the outside, and if you have a terrifying maw full of chompers intended for ripping flesh, they’re not going to care if you’re a warm, loving, and caring individual on the inside. …Of course Skärva is actually none of those things.
It’s the principle of the thing though. Think about all the poor people who have sharks for parents.
Well, it could be even worse. At least everyone thinks sharks are cool, right? He could have been a blobfish-man or… Nyan Cat Man…
The font for A Link to the Past, eh? I think you’ve broken the record for the number of Zelda references in a particular comic that isn’t a parody of the Zelda series!
I was originally doing the text boxes to look more like Chrono Trigger, but APPARENTLY we are only allowed to make references to one game series. That’s what I get for letting *him* be the writer.
…On the plus side I now have the font from A Link to the Past.
Not much to say about the page. All I want to say is, it looks like skarva has 4 eyebrows and that is pretty neat.
he,has, four, eyebrows, weve gone over this, many, many,MANYtimes, its not a cool micromeme anymore,so just chill out about it,and yeah,Im insane, feel free to insult me,Im cool with that.
