So, becouse Bladud put all his magic into the stone, would it even be possible for him to become a ghost? If so, would he immediantly loose his form?
Well, he put everything he had above and beyond his own soul. He was still alive when they executed him. So yeah, he could have become a ghost.
How does that work, anyway? Is it possible for hnau to transfer their spirit into objects just like that, or are there some special criteria? Is it possible to take the spirit back if they change their mind later? Can the spirit be transferred to another being? Won’t the object become sentient, now that it has a spirit?
Sounds like making horcruxes
Our magic system doesn’t allow for that. Magic IS consciousness (or rather consciousness is magic, you could look at it that way), but a person can’t manipulate their own soul, since the soul is the thing DOING the magic… make sense? The will can’t manipulate the will itself. It’s the same reason people can’t teleport themselves, because the thing doing the spell would have to manipulate itself as it’s doing the spell.
Now, I suppose technically you could do this to someone else, trap THEM in an object, etc. But again it’s the same thing as teleportation, not only is it dangerous, but it’s also just extremely difficult. Just like the human brain is far too complicated for humanity to understand and artificially replicate at this point in time, a soul is too complicated for magic users in Idenau to fully comprehend and manipulate.
Ghosts can possess objects, but only because they don’t have a body of their own anymore.
Look at it this way, Bladud put all his ability to use magic into the jewel, but not his spirit; after all, there are plenty of people who have souls and no ability to use magic.
So Bladud put into the stone the stuff that allowed him to use magic, and that stuff isn’t the stuff that consciousness is made of? I thought spirit and magical ability were the same thing. Now I’m confused

There’s two things you need to use magic: a mana pool and “magical spirit.” To put this in game terms, mana would be like PP/MP and magical spirit would be your level. The former determines how MUCH you can do, the latter determines the strength/complexity of what you can do. You can increase your magical spirit by training, but it’s always going to exist on top of your core spirit. You might think of being alive and conscious as being “level 0.” You can’t alter or violate that by your own will.
It is the same stuff, but it’s different. Think about this, ice and water are both the same THING, but they behave differently. Water can flow and soak into things, ice can’t. One’s conscious spirit is like a solid “chunk” of magic that can’t be messed with. That’s how individuality exists.
So Bladud emptied himself of all the magic that he has control over, if not all the magic that existed within him, technically.
Make sense?
Just because the knowledge isn’t there yet doesn’t mean someone hasn’t tried. I can easily imagine an Idenau horror story of some mad magic user trying to push the limits and find new ground and plenty of unfortunate lab assistants that they go through in the process.
