Derk is so amazing. It’s good to finally be able to show this side of him to you guys! What other secrets might he and Skärva and all the rest have?
Fascinating…that’s an intriguing spin on dark and light magic…this bears further consideration. I have to go, give it some more thought.
Yeah, since evil-doers are supposedly unable to use light magic, the gods failed to provide Blank with any protection for it. Derk is a special villain.
Or perhaps he’s not really a villain at all…
I love Derk’s expression/stance in the last panel. He’s ready for him.

So does Derk not do any hand to hand? Does he have some sort of variable fighting style?
Derk actually dislikes fighting in general and only does it out of necessity, usually to protect Skärva. Even so, he avoids hand-to-hand because he considers it too brutal. Punching people is generally not his style.

Derk looks weird in side view, lol. :3 I really have no idea how you could make him look better though. Anatomy is like a second language to me.

Dirks just too nice for dark magic. hes adorable and really cares about the people in his life, so light magic is a natural fit. (and i’m sure that having it be the hero’s weakness helps alot)

The fact that he’s a light mage, (Even a mage at all) is a neat touch.
Yeah, that’s the first thing we thought up for our number one lackey. We wanted him to be the stereotypical strongman that, at first glance, everyone would assume is stupid and just goes around punching people at his master’s command, while in reality he prefers to fight with magic – and while he doesn’t say much, is smarter than people give him credit for. Just because someone is strong of body doesn’t mean they’re weak of mind.
We still wanted to have the loveable guy who’s really not that bright though. Hello Slice! XD
